A Little Bit of Summer

So I have just now gotten around to downloading, editing, and cataloging all the photos from this summer.
Remember how we found the secret Secrest Arboretum last year?  Well, Mom and Dad came to visit us this July, and we took them to see it.  But first!

 ICE CREAM!!
This is Guern's ice cream.  They pride themselves on their unusually high fat content, and it. is. Worth it.
Besides, then we spent the next several hours walking around the arboretum, so I'm sure we paid for that ice cream.  Probably.
It started out kinda cool out there, but then the sun came out.
(this is one of those marble tables we found stashed in a corner last year).

The slide was still in good working order.
But as per always, some people seem able to just fly down it, and some squeak down by the inch.  I'm a squeaker, Dave's a flyer.
I mostly took people photos this trip.
I guess this was partly because most of the blooms were already past.  These were some of the only bloom photos I even took:
But we did visit the stand of Dawn Redwoods.
And the rose garden.
But the most interesting thing in the fabulous rose garden was this little guy:
But we had fun there anyway.
We got some good portrait-style pictures of me and Dave:
Including my brilliant impression of Ricky Bobby:
I...I don't know what to do with my hands.
Mom and Dad looked so beautiful, I took more pictures of the two of them than anything else.
 Aren't they adorable?
And then...I guess they went home.  But that can't be right.  They were here for a good 4 days...what did we do with our time? I know we took them to meet the Davis family down the street, stopped at a garage sale, and visited my favorite thrift store.  Mom and Dad got to tour Dave's work up at the airport.

Amazing.  Apparently if I didn't photograph it, it never happened.  Fortunately, now I've got these completely adorable, sweet photos of Mom and Dad.  So when I remember their visit...this is probably all that I will remember.  Does this happen for anyone else?

Anyways.  Hope you enjoyed that walk through a bit of bright, fresh green before autumn really rushes in on us.
