Anna's Eighth Month

Anna turns 8 months old today!
There are so many wonderful things this month!  She cut her second tooth (bottom left this time) and took her very last bath in her little baby bath tubby.  On to the full-size bath!  More room for splashes!

She continues to be most interested in "grown-ups' toys" like the computer, mouse, phone...
...anything, really, that is new and different from the same-old same-old toys.
We're just going with it (mostly...you know, not when she's trying to chew on cords and stuff).
The Bumbo is long gone.
Anna maintains a sitting position on her own (yea!!), though she doesn't yet transition into it on her own.  Transitioning out of it, on the other hand...she's getting pretty quick at that.
Just look at this goofy little stinker!  Look at that face!
So, like, taking pictures is not so easy.
Because Anna is mobile now!  It's not really "crawling"...it's the breast stroke, like the way a seal moves across the ground.
Sometimes she goes back to her not-quite-crawling action, trying to figure it out...she pushes up on her hands and knees, scoots her left knee forward, kicks her right leg out to the side, and then flops on the floor.  And then she does it again.  And then she gives up on the legs and goes back to her breast stroke because, hey, it works.

She got to watch her very first video this month!
First Signs from Baby Einstein.  Those puppets, man...she loves those puppets.  Especially the little baby puppet refusing to eat from the spoon the mama puppet is trying to give him.  She gets such a giggly kick out of that.

Solid foods are going very well.  There hasn't been much that she disliked, though some combinations have not been favorites (like, the potato/spinach is cool, but not in conjunction with the pear/kiwi/kale).  If there's a spoon involved, she wants to be in charge of it.
Straws and those pouches she can suck on are definitely the better way to go (marginally less messy).
(My breakfast smoothie is always popular - she gets super excited when she sees me walking toward her with it).
She has just started dancing, and I love it so much!  This isn't the greatest video of it, but it just started a day or two ago, and it cracks me up!

Anna started blowing raspberries around month 5/6, but she hasn't done it in a long time...until now. The last few days she's been blowing raspberries all day long.
I didn't get but one picture of her where she's looking at me pleasantly and not blowing raspberries
(see the little tongue?  Just edit in the sound of lots of tttttthhhhhbbbbbpptt, and you'll know what this photo session was like...it tickles me to death!!).

And besides all of the physical growth, there's this new sense about Anna...I don't know, it just suddenly feels like she is aware of us in a way she didn't used to be.  Like she wants to interact with us and figure out what it is we're doing with her and with each other and participate in whatever is going on.  It felt before like we were sort of a force of nature for her...not personal, just part of her environment. Now, she seems more aware...of us, of other people, of her own ability to effect change and get a reaction.

You know who else she's more aware of...Monkey.

He has been getting braver and braver with her!  He even let her grab his tail the other day with nothing more than a little meow and then moving away from her.

Anna Banana, we adore you!  I couldn't get through this post without going back through the photos a dozen times and laughing and laughing at your precious, hilarious self.  You brighten up our days (especially now that you're sleeping through the nights!! shhhhhhh!) and we love, love, love that you're our girl!  We love you!
